ok, don't make fun of this. this is something i wrote a little while ago and i wanna put it on here.

people say that everyone has to believe in something. i believe in music. i believe in music as art, expression of emotion, the definition of beauty as created by human hands. i believe in it's power to change lives, and opinions. to make you re-think your place in life, make you step back and take a deeper look inside. there's got to be something substantial behind an art-form that can make thousands of civil people jump and screamin uncontrollably with total stangers.to make the coldest bitch :) cry like and infant.

if magic exists, then it exists in the creation of lyric, melody, harmony, a great guitar riff, thundering bass, a powerful earth-shattering voice, and rictor-scale worthy drums. the thunder of God if you will. and it doesn't matter what kind of music it is.

there's only a few rules to it. 1)honest.complete honesty. put your ass on the line for you art. express true human emotion, be it love, anger, dispair, regret, joy, or angst. if you're expressing that through the art that is music, than you're making something beautiful. 2)be true. be yourself. dont sell your soul for money and fame. make your voice heard and be passionate and dont apologize for it. stand behind your creation with every fiber of your being if you believe it to be something real, something worthwhile.

Music isn't something to be taken lightly. Yes it can lift your spirits, make you sing and dance, and forget your struggles. but at the end of the day, it should be raw and human and substantial, even if it makes you shake your ass. it should make you feel good, or bad, or shamefl or sexy or depressed or reflexive, angry, hopeful. it should make you FEEL.

and for god sake dont be afraid to be a fan. this is going to make me sound like a hypocrite, but i've been thinking about this lately and i know i've been wrong about it. just be a fucking fan. LOVE the music you listen to and dont be ashamed of it. who am i, who is anyone to judge the way anyone else experiences music? i know i dog people about liking bands that i think "suck" but that's really wrong of me. if you love the usic you love, adn you because it connects with you, you love it for substantial reasons, if makes you feel the way you want to feel, it makes you the person you want to be, than fuck me or anyone else who try to tell you not to have that kind of beauty in your life. im gonna try really hard not to do that anymore because i hate it when people do that to me, but if you like a band because you think the lead singer is hot, than you're asking to get ripped apart.

i love rock and roll, i love country, i love savage garden for christ sake. adn fuck anyone who doesn't understand it. since the dawn of time, man has created his own rythm (sp?) a melody and wel ive by it. it changes, and it's given different names, trends come and go, but at the end of the day we all go home and turn our stereo on and just breathe it in. soak it up. let it permeate us because in this fucked up world, music, and my relationship with it, seem to be the only thing i can grab on to that wont shake me loose. and i can't be the only one, i hope im not alone in my sentiments, cause in the end, i think that's all we have. maybe im totally wrong, but i dont think i can deal with a world without it. and i hope im not alone in thinking that.
